Some strong to severe thunderstorms are firing up across the bluegrass this afternoon. Several watches and warnings are in effect for the eastern parts of the state including Pike County which is under a severe thunderstorm warning and flash flood warning. As far as to the west of Lexington is concerned several storms are out to the west of I-65 and one cell just fired up to the south of Shepardsville heading due east. Here's a look at the current radar.
With the intense heat today and the humidity any storm that fires up has the possibility to become severe. I'll keep an eye on the radar and update as needed.
